Duesseldorf-Holthausen site

The world's most important and largest production site of Cognis GmbH is situated in Duesseldorf-Holthausen. Cognis Oleochemicals GmbH and Pulcra Chemicals are also represented here. This site produces numerous products derived from renewable raw materials such as palm kernel oil and coconut oil:

• Fatty acids, glycerin, fatty alcohols, mainly for the detergent, plastics and the pharmaceutical industry
• Surfactants and oil components for the cosmetics industry.
• Additives for paints and varnishes, lubricants and plasticizers for plastics, textile auxiliaries for fiber and fabric production, for dyeing and printing as well as specialty process chemicals and additives for oil production, mining and crop protection.

The following chemical processes are employed in the manufacture of these products: High-pressure process, distillation and fractioning, hydrogenation, ethoxylation, sulphonation, drying and mixing.
