Safety standards, environmental compatibility and product quality that meet even the most exacting demands: At Cognis, these elements are safeguarded by worldwide SHEQ Management (SHEQ = safety, health, environment and quality). Cognis Germany is integrated in a regional and global network of internal as well as external experts, whereby the same strict regulations apply to Cognis Germany as to any other Cognis unit worldwide - in many countries the legal requirements are even exceeded.

Naturally, Cognis therefore reduces its emissions to an absolute minimum. It thus keeps the air clean while ensuring that there is no nuisance from noise and odors. Being a good neighbor, Cognis has developed a preventive control system at all of its German production sites in order to stop any annoyance before it arises. Likewise, wastewater is filtered through a central cleaning installation, which is monitored around the clock to guarantee efficiency. Solid waste is registered and properly recycled.

Trust is good, control is better. Cognis subjects its sites to regular audits, monitoring the high standards of safety, health, and environmental protection.

When it comes to the health and safety of its employees, Cognis is not willing to compromise. This attitude is underpinned not only by rigorous safety parameters, but also by regular training and seminars. By the way, minor incidents such as trips and stumbles are responsible for approximately 95% of all accidents at our sites. We at Cognis are especially pleased that we have been able to cut them significantly, e.g. at our plant in Düsseldorf.
